A solpugid or wind-scorpion, found in a sample of amber from the Dominican Republic, is the only known fossil of this arachnid order ever recovered to date from amber. A relative of true scorpions and a predator of smaller insects and other arthropods, solpugids are non-venemous and lack the segmented tail and stinger of true scorpions. Magnification ca. x 6.
